Joel Hegeman, PT, DPT FAFS

Biography

Joel grew up in Iowa and completed his undergraduate studies in Biology Health Professions at Northwestern College. After earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the Mayo School of Health Sciences in 2016, he began his career in Golden, Colorado, working in a private practice. He completed a Fellowship in Applied Functional Science in 2020 and trained in dry needling and other manual therapy techniques. From 2023 to 2025, Joel worked as a traveling PT across Colorado, California, and Washington gaining valuable experience in a variety of outpatient orthopedic settings. Now back in Colorado, he combines clinical expertise with a passion for helping patients stay active. He focuses on function-based rehab and hands-on care to treat orthopedic and sports-related injuries to help people return to the activities they love. As a runner, mountain biker, and snowboarder, Joel understands the importance of living the “mountain life” to the fullest!
