In her mid 20s, Dr. Atkins worked as a professional ski patroller at Copper Mountain and as an instructor for the Colorado Outward Bound School. During this time, she developed a passionate interest in mountain and wilderness medicine that eventually led her to pursue medicine as a career.
Dr. Atkins moved to the Vail Valley from Boulder. Her practice style has grown to be integrative and holistic, pulling from the best of both classic western and complimentary/alternative methods whenever possible. She enjoys working with patients of all ages, particularly adolescents, to help them optimize their health and performance through nutrition, exercise, lifestyle choices and stress-management.
Dr. Atkins is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Colorado Medical Society.
